Stock Trading Strategy

Throughout the course of trading stocks as a business, a stock trader must develop both the skills and instincts needed to spot opportunities and profit from them. This is what we call developing a stock trading strategy that can be followed with specific strategic rules and guideline that can yield profits on a consistent basis.  Once the set of rules and guidelines that make the overall stock trading strategy is identified and followed by a stock trader, he must still be open-minded, so he can fine tune his trading strategy to adapt to new market conditions.

A stock trading strategy can be based on technical analysis, tape reading, trading on news releases, anticipation of news, analysis of the world economy, and so on. A trader might employ trading strategies that are used by scalpers, momentum traders, trend traders, swing traders, and the like. A trader may also use the optimal trading tools such as top-of-the-line computers, stock trading software, order execution trading software, broker, etc, as a part of his complete trading strategy.  That is all discretionary. 

The bottom line is that when a trader develops a trading strategy, it must cater to his personality and to the trading style he feels most comfortable with. There are successful traders who trade off support and resistance exclusively. Other traders utilize different stock trading strategies and take different approaches. What matters is that a trader tailors the trading strategy to suit himself, rather than trying to mimic the approach of another trader with a different temperament.
