Day Trading Stocks Online

When a trader opens a stock position with his online broker and closes it the very same trading day as he opened it, then this trader is engaging in a strategy that is defined by the SEC as day trading stocks. Although the risk that is assumed by such trader is subject to a never-ending argument, it has been decided by the stock trading governing body that certain precautions must be made and consequently, online brokers and day trading brokers have implemented the pattern day trader rule.

If a trader has read some day trading books and decided that he wants to day trade stocks online, he should be aware of the pattern day trading rule in order to avoid any surprises that may handicap his success. One of the obstacles that has made the entry to the day trading profession so difficult is that if someone wants to engage in any kind of day trading stocks he needs to have $25,000 in his account.
